No problem with the covers..... on the other hand the rubber straps get cut, break or just disappear. Using a piece of bungee cord now

The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

There was 2 styles.

One a mora cover....one some other guy made.

The mora was a 6in and the other style was a 7in.

I took the 6in and adjusted it to an 8in. Trying to see if I can somehow mod the cover again and fit a 10in cover on my platform to print.....maybe if I put it diagonal. Since Strikemaster doesn’t make a 10in cover anymore for the mora.

Printed both styles with PLA plastic and compared them to an original cover. They seem pretty durable so far even better quality then the real covers. If they seem to break I can thicken the plastic walls & either use PETG, ABS, or maybe nylon.

This is kinda fun.

Printed some rod handles, glow cup for a vex, rod holder for buckets, auger covers, beaver damn tip up winder....

I figured the rubber straps would get expensive so I was just gonna get a length of bungie cord to make the straps....and knot accordingly.

If it is possible i would try and make the old school mora cover that have that plastic latch instead of the bungie models.ive had the all plastic ones last forever.

There a a plastic tab cord modeled after the rubber one......I didn’t think it would flex to well.

Man I hate that blade cover so much.. my 8" mora has the old plastic latch. Just the way it latches and the lack of stretch, so when the blades are covered in ice it makes it impossible to get on easily. I wish someone would figure out a large cover for it. Maybe a round or somewhat round cover (like the lazer) but with a rectangle area recessed into the bottom for the blades to slip into. Or just a bucket style like the k-drill. So much safer and easier when everything is frozen solid. Basically exactly what Agromist has here but with a larger round exterior around it for easier handling would be my dream cover for moras.

Have you tried the PVC home made cover yet? Might be the cover that does what you want.

No, I havent. Used it last year on my drill and was annoyed every time I went, this year I've been using my 6" lazer bit so havent really even thought about it until I saw this post. Maybe I'll just clip the plastic latch off and drill a hole in each end for a bungee strap. That will help at least.

Just get a plastic Folgers Coffee can. It worked good on an auger I used to have.

I was able to fix that crappy mora cover I have. I cut the plastic latch off, then drilled holes in each end for bungee hooks. I then grabbed a hacksaw and cut a notch in the flighting for the bungee to grab onto and now it works perfectly. One end latches onto the flighting, so its just a hook and reach situation now.

Why did you paint your Auger white? Sail Blue is pretty close to the original mora color.

It was a $2 garage sale auger and it had rust spots all over it. I value it at whatever it costs me to get my blades sharpened, and the can of old flat white spray paint on my garage shelf was just the perfect price point to cover up the rust. I usually go flat black with them so they dont freeze as bad on sunny days

What? It's a small homemade 3D printer that prints plastic. My wife got it for me for Christmas. It was about $200

Heck no....It takes the printer 8-10 hours making one of those covers. It puts on thin less then a mm thread of plastic down and repeats.
