Eskimo Pistol Bit Review

Purchased this along with a Milwaukee M18 Fuel brushless hammer drill 1200 in/lbs. torque.  They come with 5 AH batteries.
First time drilling  several holes.  Had 8 inches of hard ice today.  Drilled 28 holes.   When I wasn’t using it I put the battery in a cooler bag with a hand warmer.  By the end of the day the battery still had 3/4 bars.  It performed wonderfully.  No fatigue, so light.  No gas fumes or spills on my hands.  I’ll update this thread throughout the year as ice gets thicker.  So far, very happy with the switch.

Good deal. I just bought the M18 also to use with my 6" and 7" Mini Nero's. Will try to go out this week I know I hve ice just looking for a good time to go.

6 or 8 inches? It seems only the 8-inch one has a center point.

we slowly transitioned away from our strikemaster strikelite to a drill set up.  it wasn't on purpose, we just realized how little of a hassle it was not having to deal with gas and crap.   

the weight difference was glaring as well.

Has anyone here seen the new clam 120v auger that’s out on the market, like in a store or out there hands on it? I am curious to see what others think about this auger compared to Ions and other battery powered go to’s.... I fish a lot of clam gear but I think some people make better “whatever’s” than others so I was just curious

I have one of the original 8" pistol bits with a DeWalt 996 hammer drill. Been using it for 2 years and can't say anything bad about it. No center point but hasn't been an issue for me, start slow and when it bites nail it. Am on my third set of blades, Wyoming blow sand in the ice hard on shaver blades. Put Mora's on this last time and they seem to be holding up a little better than the Eskimos.

With 38 inches of ice here in Saskatchewan, I was able to cut 8 holes on one 5 Ah battery with my Milwaukee drill.
