I hope the extended forcast verifies.  Great ice making weather, except for the snow.

Yep, the snow will slow it down for sure since it acts like a blanket and insulates the snow.  I saw on 16 that we could get a major storm Wednesday into Thursday.  I never thought I'd say this but I sure hope they're wrong with that one.

we are finally going to get the cold weather we need....... and then just like on command we are potentially going to get a snow storm to ruin everything.  I dont think the ice will be safe before the snow so the only hope is that we get a little ice then the weight of the snow sinks it and the snow then freezes on top of that.  we dont need the ice insulated this early.

They are calling for one to two inches of snow tonight with a chance of freezing rain.  I don't think we'll get the rain but it's been snowing for a few hours.  I'm hoping it blows off or as you said sinks the ice and freezes rather than becoming a blanket.  As for Wednesday and Thursday they still aren't sure what's going to happen.

drove past francis slocum today, it had some ice on it and it looked to be holding some snow but after the storm tomorrow i think its all gonna be gone. Lets just hope the forcast after the storm stays the same bc highs are supposed to be in the low 30's and upper 20's

I checked out three small lakes and one medium size lake today.  The medium lake had snow with lots of big wet patches and an open spot in the middle.  The small lakes had mostly dry snow and from shore to about ten yards out it was wet.

It's snowing hard here now and they are saying 5 or 6 inches on the way but at least it's dry and puffy and not wet.  I'd say we'll definitely be out on the ice by the first if not mid week.  Some good cold temps are coming, lows are supposed to be in the teens or single digits.

Thanks for the report if275.  Slocum isn't my favorite lake, but it is the closest for a quick trip.
