EITHER hope it gets realllllyyyyy cold or plan on going in at the rail, i dont think it will be safe at the launch by then especially when they are callin for high 40's possibly in the 50's next week and rain!!!!! cant imagine it will freeze up at the launch end with that kind of weather if it didnt already, just sayin!!!!!!!! someone should go up and take care of them geese that are helping it stay open!

It just wouldn't be the same without Mrs. CoolJ on the ice with us. Nice hot bowl of chili to help keep her icey feet warm! LOL

I will take care of those geese!

I took care of some ducks at the Middleburg pond and a ground hog at Faylor

Also, Geo, I fixed the icy feet problem, but I still look forward to your chili!

She doesn't need a Benelli, she steals my AK-47 and costs me a fortune in ammo!

So I guess we should talk a little more about our get together since the weather forecast is not looking to promising for us, we need a backup plan. Theres no sense to cancel it, its already been a aggravating year for ice fishing and I think the get together would help alleviate some of that.
So for a backup plan..... when next week comes around and if the ice is looking pretty iffy do we want to reschedule or have it anyway? What are all your thoughts and suggestions boys and girls?

If it's a no-go for the launch, I won't be there. My back has been horrible and there is no way I'd be able to go in at the rail.

If ya guys need eggs for anything ( sammys, or what ever) I have chickens and i get a pile of eggs ( brown ) so dont be afraid to ask, everyone is welcome to them. and yes i removed the 1st part of this post..... when i wrote it i must have been sleepin cuz I didnt see that you guys were talkin about it allready. No such luck CoolJ. 10 day forecast from this pt shows a combined high/low temp for most days to add up to at or above (70F) which by my experience will prove that we lose ice thru that period. I kinda look for the high/low temp sum for each day to be below 40 to really make serious ice, 50 to make some, 60 to hold current ice. Once they add up to 70 or higher then you're losing ice. Throw any rain in there (and it's supposed to rain near an inch this Thurs/Fri) and you really knock the ice on its heels.

No sir, if we are to believe the forecast then our goose is cooked for getting on the ice for this gathering on the planned date. Not trying to be pessimistic, but rather realistic and think plans should be made based on this forecast coming to be the case on game day.

Yeah it sucks. we don't deserve this but isn't there some kinda saying "All's fair in love, war, and icefishing".

One silver cloud is that this has been about the best year I can remember for soft water fishing. And if there isnt any ice to be found -- what the heck --- might as well go shoot the breeze and have a bowl of chili with "two pints "

coolJ took it upon himself to organize things this year. I guess that lets him have the call ? Whatever you decide, man -- thats fine with me :-)

If you cancel or postpone it, we can still plan that get together for later in the spring !

Oh -- no big deal.

We were just going to have a get together this spring. We had an ice fishing season "kickoff" party at my place back in december and we all had a great time, but some couldnt make it.

so we thought we would have another one when it got warmer this spring -- like a bonfire/fish fry/ hot dog roast.

and then we talked about having it closer to walker lake ( Im about 40 minutes south)

and then cool J found a place right next to the lake that we could use.

Any one interested ? more details to follow in the months to come.

I keep hearing you guys talk about the rail.....i've been at walker off and on since 1990sh, and i'm not sure where your talkin about. alllways been on soft water in the boat. Is it twards the dam or up in the shallows at the opposite end?

Its up in the shallows on the opposite side. In a boat, get off the launch, go to the opposite side, head up the lake and you will see where an old road crossed the lake. they have a guard rail there blocking the road, hence the "rail"

from your car take middle road to herman road -- you can drive till you get to the rail
