I spent black Friday   mowing grass, raking leaves,  and  yard work in general ---   It  felt like a spring day.

Deer season is upon us , and its not unusual to have it start out warm and rainy, but  end in a few weeks   cold and white ---- we will see  !!

So based off previous years, with temps where they are, how many nights in the teens or 20s would it take to get things started ? I don't know the particular body you were on or its layout but I guess take your best shot.

Still have a couple weeks to go.  If the Temps are still 40+ The water is still turning.  Once it reaches 39* is when it stops turning and we'll start forming Ice on the surface.  It's coming.

Here in luzerne co, skim ice can be seen on smaller ponds during colder early mornings, but these darn 40/50 degree days remove it fast. Id say most lakes here are ready...they're still liquid, all we need is a prolonged cold spell.

Any chance  of ice  on a public lake in the Poconos soon?

Deer season ends Saturday ----  10,000 waxies  coming on Wed(14th), and the  guys are  coming to my place  Friday (16th) to divide them up --   After   a chili cookoff and home brew tasting on Friday, we would love to  go ice fishing  somewhere in the state on the 17th ?

Last year  we were fishing our local lakes the week before Christmas, but that ain't gonna happen this year  even if we do get  a cold snap :-(

--- and to answer your question ---- you sure are invited if you are going to be anywhere near Harrisburg  that  day !!

I have always wanted to try Jean --  hey Spud-- if you hear anything please let me know.  I think I could talk some of the guys into running up there.

As far as Beechwood is concerned -- I will be up  in Bradford county this Saturday for the last day of Buck.  If the ponds are  freezing up  there, then Beechwood should    have similar conditions.  I can let you know whats up when I get back on Sunday.

Looks like you should be seeing some soon if the wind lays down. Even though they raised the low for tonight (it was 19 for Pocono Pines a few hours before your post with the link) a couple nights in the teens should do some good!

Hi, I am new to this site, came across it last week looking for Pocono lakes winter reports. This is a great site, thanks for all the postings!!!  :)

Just had a question about  Gouldsboro Lake if anyone can answer: What fish are in there? I fished it couple times last year and all i caught were some pickeral and bass in the winter on tip-ups.

Again thanks for all the great posts!

There is a whole section for reports and conditions. It also lists the types of fish that exist in each body of water. There is also an archived section where you can look up old reports and info. Welcome aboard!

that is sort of disappointing but reassuring that the water temps are obviously right there, atleast in the Poconos. It looks like temps are dropping throughout the day, hopefully this is the start of something.
