Prefer my fish from the seafood shop, never had much of a taste for freshwater species. I do keep some from time to time for a friend though. But by all means "keep your catch". If I did eat what I catch through the ice I would of died of starvation this winter.... ;D ;D ;D

I occasionally keep just enough panfish for a meal THAT NIGHT (or the next... I never freeze them)... all gamefish/roughfish go back down the hole.

After iceout I am 100% C&R.

We usually release them, but do enjoy a nice meal on occasion.  Walleyes, perch and crappies are what we like to eat.

I keep Crappie and Bluegill if they are decent size. Not the ones you need a pen knife to fillet. I will keep a couple bass in the winter cause I believe they taste better. Every Trout caught gets released. I enjoy eating the panfish and if they do make it to the freezer they are not in there long.
NEVER lied about the size of the fish I caught.....just remember them being BIGGER!!

I usually keep what I catch and freeze what I can't eat fresh.  Sometime I clean them and give them to older people I know that appreciate them.  Don't have any problem with anyone that wants to do it there way except people who don't release and don't clean them for consumption.

Catch and release just about all the time. Never kept a bass. About five years ago kept a few perch and crappie. Can’t remember the last time before then.

I am inclined to release viable catches.  Sometimes my wife will request that I bring a dinner home.  Guess she just wants to see if I am really fishin'. :-\

I really enjoy fly fishin for trout and smallies...I'll only eat bows or brookies...if the opportunity presents itself, I will keep the stockies, and relocate them to other streams and lakes that will hold them over, or potentially breed wild fish.  Trial and error over the past 40 years has been met with some success.  There are some streams and lakes in Bedford, Fulton, and Sommerset Counties that are holding the prodgeny of my efforts some 40 years ago.

I only wish I had the same insight about planting scads of black walnut trees on some of the family propertys 40 years ago.  But...it is gratifying to fish some of the projects and catch the great-great-great grandchildren of my efforts.

I keep quite a few fish,30 plus meals in the freezer, about 12 fish to a bag, keep bulls, slabs and slobs.Mostly all panfish,Gills are our favorite, but crappie are a close second. Will keep a big pike or two, bass and trout we don't eat.I only fish three or four days open water all year so,my supply of fish is ice time.

sometimes I dont take what I catch and if I do take any there eaten that day or no longer than the next day, dont freeze any anymore,I give fish to elderly people in the neighborhood if they ask for them,I would rather let them go to grow and be caught another day,if I do catch 1 that swallows the hook and will most likely die I try and give it to someone there instead of letting it go to waste.

After years of killing almost everything I caught through the ice, I now release all gamefish and only keep the panfish I plan on eating.

I have no beef with fisherman keeping their legal catch of fish, especially if they love to eat them. I do get somewhat upset with poachers who keep fish out of season, under length, or over the possession limit. They seem to ruin the fishing for everyone involved and give fisherman a universal bad name.
