The show in Minnesota is too far away, I have to work the weekend for the Syracuse show. How many of you would be interested in an informal get together some Sunday when the Steelers are not playing? We could meet at one of the pavilions at Moraine State Park and swap ideas. Bring your sled if you want. Until the ice comes, misery loves company. Let me know.

How about Sunday December 13. It is after deer season, before the Holidays. The Steelers play on the Thursday before. It is unlikely that we will have ice (God, I hope I am wrong). I will check on a pavilion #3 at Moraine, it is near the lake. Please spread the word.

I talked to the park office today. Pavilion #6 at McDanel's Landing will be available on a first come first serve basis. I do not think there will be much competition. The heated restrooms will also be open. So what do you say to Sunday, December 13? We could start at 12:00 Noon. It would be a chance to a face to some of the names.

I will bring a 15-18lb turkey already injected with creole butter seasoning from the night before and fry that baby up. You guys that don't attend don't know what you will be missing with the polish cuisine and the deep fried turkey. Heck if there was a way to fry a turkey backwards I would call it polish fried turkey!!!

Hey Digger, thanks for the offer! I'll have to check and let you know later. We ususally have a family christmas about mid December. My wifes whole family gets together down in the Quakertown area at her 1 brothers house. If it isn't on that weekend, it might be a possibility!

No go for me. I have been hunting ALOT, the old lady has been more than supportive. I will hunt all day Friday and Saturday and will need to be home getting things ready for X-mas on Sunday. Gotta get some brownie points b/4 the ice forms!

The first skim of ice keyed me to return to the shanty...lots of familiar names from last year. Last year was tough for me, but hopefully I can hook up with some of you guys this year....provided I am invited. Looking forward to a great ..hopefully long ice fishing season for us. :tipup:

Jay your covered. I called the School and spoke with your teachers. I told them you have I1N1. Iceficrapis and you will need a few days off...LOL This also includes a pass on doing homework for a week also. The only cure I told them is when the Ice hits....This young man NEEDS to be on it..... ;)

I am bringing a coffee pot (caffeine is a food group for me). Everyone should bring whatever they like. It is not possible to have too much kielbasa or wings, just too few people. Bring your sleds and shanties that have been modified. We can compare and exchange ideas. I will be arriving around 11:00

I finally got everything together and ready to go. I've got the turkey and fryer, plasticware, a roll of paper towels, duct tape, garbage bags, leftover bags, cutting board, electric knife. Plates, is anybody bringing plates? If not I will stop on my way and get some. What about bowls for the chili? Anyway once I get there tomorrow I am sure I will need something that I forgot to bring.

I just got home from an emergency room visit.
I had a gout attack on my left foot. Don't worry, with the help of some pain relievers I will still be at the get together with the turkey.
I couldn't let lil maggot down. I have to go to wal-mart on the way and get my pain pills so if anybody needs anything from wal-mart let me know.

Had a GREAT TIME and all the Food was GREAT. Was enough to feed Butler County. If it wasn't for Parks Guy putting it together I guess it would not have happened. Thanks!! A Special Thanks goes out to Toocheaptosmoke and His Father for running home and getting a Generator. Seems due to budget cuts electric wasn't on like they said it would be. Gambler the Turkey was Very Good. Good thing you brought Lil Maggot cause with His watching the Bird fry it came out just right. Even with my new teef it was easy to chew. Nice to meet Parks Guy, Slider and jmh58. Looking forward to fishing with you guys. Eddie and Creektroll always nice to see you guys. Seeing that skim Ice got my blood pumping. Will not be long and we will be drilling holes. Lets all hope for a SAFE season and a enjoyable one!!! Hope to see you all again SOON on the ICE!!!!!

Great time was had by all today. Thanks again Parks Guy for setting this event up. The food and conversation was great. I got home, and the wife did not believe we stood out in the cold all afternoon swapping lies!

Well I made it through Sunday and work on Monday but the pain pills stopped working by Monday night. I have gout in toes on both of my feet. So I was up all night and took a sick day today to go to the doctor. He put injections down through the tops of both feet. Hurt like heck!! but is feeling much better now. Anyway, as long as I made it through Sunday for my son and you guys that is all that mattered. Hopefully I will be rippin to go when the ice shows up. I bet I will be fishing right after Christmas. And speaking of Christmas, A Merry Christmas to all of you guys!!

I saw a solution last year when I was ice fishin Erie Horseshoe...there was a guy that unloaded and took off in a self propelled shanty. :o The only problem is that you are probably not allowed to use something like that at morraine. ??? Might get special permission though. :callcops:

evidently we are one of the few ststes that doesnt allow motorized vehicles on the ice.
I was thinking about canibalising one of those Kids battery operated jeeps/barbie cars and making a ice hauler out of it

i look at it like this they let disabled hunters hunt from their vehicles so as long as on a "electric motor lake" like highpoint it wpould be legal

I look at it this way...If your over 50 you should be aloud to use ANYTHING to get on the ice. This includes Walkers with motorized ski's.... ::)
