NEW Marcum LX's and StrikeMaster augers!!!
« on: May 02, 2012, 09:35 PM »
Was in my retailer today, and got a chance to see the new Marcum Catalog!!!  LX 6,7, and 9!!!

The 9 integrates the camera and the digital sonar...incredible!  How come no info on these???

AND the hot new StrikeMaster auger has the 35cc HONDA 4 stroke in the new StrikeLite auger...

I am thinking this new Rapala affiliation is only going to mean good things to come!!!
If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

I'm not interested in any of the new augers until they stick a commercial engine on it. Show me a durability rating or keep it!!

I would be interested in a big screen LX-6 Marcum flasher though. I fished with a guy who ran an H-Bird all winter, the big screen was pretty nice. He had some durability issues with it though, so I would like to stick with Marcum.

I would be hesitant on the Honda 4 stroke motor.  Great motors don't get me wrong as I ahve built a few duck hunting mud motors using them.  My concern would be using these motors at well below zero in the horizontal position.  The oil misting system empoyed may not work well at l ow temperatures.  I spoke with Honda about this prior to buying a motor to make my mud motor.  They said that while it would work for my intended application, I had to be careful of the tilt on the motor at very low temperatures.  They even specifically mentioned this motor not being good for an ice auger.

Maybe they have mad seom improvements.  i am also assuming (big risk here huh?) that this is the GX-35 motor strikmaster is using.
