ELK LAKE
« on: Jan 29, 2007, 05:34 PM »
I might be doing a trip to elk lake next weekend and was wondering if anyone has fished it this year?  Its off exit 29 on 87N.  I've never been there and could use an area familiarization for this lake.  Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mack

That is a private lake, unless you have reservations, I dont think you can just pull up and go fishing.  To my understanding you have to be a guest of the Clear Pond Elk Lake lodge to fish there.  If you are I couldn't tell ya, I have spent over twenty years in that part of the Adks and always said it would be nice to go up and fish them.  Oh, and the Boreas Ponds, if only Finch Pryun would sell those lands to the state.  But to get back to Elk Lake, the only thing I know about it is that my grandfather fished it some time ago and it had lakers, brookies, and the caretakers had stocked cutthroats from out west in it, but like I said, I think ice fishing it is a no no.
