Off the wall Question
« on: Oct 26, 2006, 11:43 PM »
I think I'm going stir crazy waiting for the ice already!  I just had to ask you guys a question that popped in my head.  Anybody ever use a flasher when fishing for Sea Run Smelts?  I've already been looking at tide charts for January!  Poor ice last year and bad timing for me left me without a smelting trip for the first time in years, and now I'm ready to go!  Just curious if it would be worth it to bring the flasher along to Worthings or James Eddy or would the brackish water mess up the transducer?  As the time draws closer, we should get a gang together and go get some smelt!  Mike

Ive never personally fished for smelt, but an outdoor show had a trip to some smelt waters in michigan. They used a flasher, and it worked quite effectivly. They could see exactly at what depth the fish were.. Looked pretty fun
