What is the model number of your drill? Do you know it's torque rating?

DCD985  1/2 INCH    not sure of torque...was looking at the k drill or eskimo  pistol   just looking, they are very pricey

My 18 volt 1/2" Dewalt drill does does fine with a 7" auger.
But, you will be able to drill fewer holes per battery as the size of auger increases :(.

your drill has 708.0596632 inch pounds. it will be rough for an 8 inch auger. 6 inch will be fine.

It will run an 8in eskimo pistol. The kdrill is 7.5 but takes way more tourqe then the flat blade eskimo.

Personally i’d find a 7in mora hand auger for it at $50. A clam plate for $70 and an extention for $15. You’d get a lot more for $135 and have a drilling machine.

Then the $65 or more you’d save vs the kdrill or eskimo i’d spend on other fishing gear

I don't believe that model is brushless...could cause problems down the road. 8 inch may be asking a lot.

It will be usable with good blades. I would put a set of strikemaster blades on it and ditch the Chinese eskimo blades.
