SE Mass
« on: Jan 16, 2019, 02:16 PM »
Since the season down here is so short I figured I would help out those in the area on my findings today.
Checked a large pond in Middleboro and found 3- 3 1/2” black ice and wish I had my gear. Also checked a pond in E. Taunton and found 2-2 1/2” black ice.
It’s about here, get your gear ready.

Im heading North also not taking any chances. This winters ice got me all sketched out now (New dad) lol. Not fun fishing when your constantly asking yourself if this ice is safe regardless of how thick. Goodluck

Cut a test hole on Tuesday in Pembroke about 100 feet offshore was 3.5 of black. If we don’t get hit with rain Friday I plan to be out Saturday. MGC bait in Hanover just got in shiners so be nice to fish local to me this weekend

I checked a pond today in Hanson that had 3-3 1/2". I'm going to check it again tomorrow after work (maybe a few others nearby) and see what I can find. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates.
Marking anything?

That's good to hear about MGC. I bought bait there two years ago and he met me there before he opened, really nice guy.

Mike from MGC is a great guy and super nice. I throw mostly big swimbaits in the open water season and he is only bait shop i know of that sell the big baits otherwise you have to order online.

Hoping to get out tomorrow somewhere between Marshfield and Plymouth. Hoping to get into some perch or crappie on the jigs. If anybody has scouted any spots that might be safe, shoot me a message.

Was out walking my dogs around lunch believe I saw you out by the tiny island. Just checked again and Ice was looking little soft with puddling on top. Sucks about that guy who bought that lot n put up the no trespassing/parking signs huh.

Oldham was one of four places I checked out. I thought the ice looked alright by the public beach/playground off Wampatuck.

Very slow on Indian Head this morning. Jigged a dink yellow perch and a 2 pound bass. Had some flags but not fish.

Made the move to Stetson in Pembroke. One flag so far but no fish.

Colby- I had 3in exact, one spot I ventured around to only 2in, it definitely got soft on top yesterday it was all dimpled.  I got 4 flags, 1 rainbow, slow day jigging.  I hope the ice survives the rain and wind

It a town right of way for rescue and  fire pumping  it cant be blocked that's why you see no parking signs  and not no trespassing signs . I think the guy /gal who bought the lot only own the part that's east of Arlene St. Who knows?
