Original blackbetty

Who has one and what do you think? How deep will you use it before the 1:1 ratio gets to be too much? I like that it is just you and the fish.

i like mine and bought the fender separate at that time. don't care for hand pulling line out to fish, so it gets used on tight lip days. i pan fish so mostly shallow water fishing with it. i wouldn't want to land a cat fish on it.
it sits on a 13 fishing wicked 19ul with titanium strike indicator and stroft line.

I had 1 give to me to try the first year they came out , and didn’t care for it , heavy and over priced ,you can buy a much better reel for $40,  also had it on a wicked 19”ul , like the rod ,

we are talking about this model. well balanced, it's just 1:1 ratio. has a drag. it's built much like a fly rod reel. was 25$

That's the one, it is far smoother than any inline 1:1 ratio reel that I have tried before. Thought about trying out a true fly-reel but they get pricey quick and I don't know that they would be any better.

It is a basic reel and I get that, but I like trying new equipment. Sounds like it would be worthwhile, even just for early/late season when the fish are still shallow.

it's well built and lightweight. if you pull line out too fast some times it gets lodged around the arbor. i pull line from the end of the rod and pull as much as my arm allows for while pulling the other arm back at the same time like ripping some thing apart sorta.
it's for finicky or finesse fishing is how i use it.
i think now the only way to buy is with the fender already on it for 35$.

I got the one from HT for about $15 last year...worked fine for me. Use it in 25' fow or less.

I've got one of these and two #8 code blue feels like it on HT ice Blues. Love them for pod fishing pannies up to 15ft. These and the old schooley rods are hard to beat on panfish.
