A buddy was just there a little bit ago. Game warden was escorting everyone out, and a chopper was low flying/searching the area.

Hope they find the body. I remember prolly 30 years ago we were doing a float down the Kankakee. As we were on the float several groups of peeps passed us riding horseback along the levees. As the second group rode by we asked them what was up. They told us they were looking for a body they believed was dumped in the river. Had my 6 year old nephew in the boat that day so after that the rest of the day every cast that got hung up was a bit spooky. Half expected to pull up a corpse!
A week later a fella I knew was casting a Mepps in the river up by the three I bridge and he snagged the head! Seems the guy was chopped up before he was dumped in the river!!  Sure hope they find that body

I may be exaggerating but it is a lot of people and it's not just people from social media it's tons of locals and I've met guys who don't even know about this site or belong to any social media sites that know about it. I also know a handful of guys that when the weather is right they will take their boats over there from Hammond and fish from a boat and beat dealing with the crowd

And from what I've been told in the past that there is a lot of small perch to sort through to get some keepers depending on what you would call a keeper. But if you don't mind dealing with the crowd and getting up at 4 in the morning to get over there before the crowd hits then you might have a blast LOL

The Maumee thing isn't that bad during the week, I have done it many years. Do like ice fishing, find an area just outside of the crowd. Usually limit within a couple hrs....

It sounds like 87th is permanently shut down due to the accident, also just a little advice the perch are still in there try fishing a little higher don't fish on the bottom!

87th is done because us steel put up no trespassing signs and also there is a fish consumption sign saying not to consume too many fish! Lol you can still fish 87th but way down at the mouth. I have tried the whole water column as i do everytime because sometimes the bigger ones are up higher. I appreciate the input though
