Missoula area fishing
« on: Jan 26, 2018, 07:14 AM »
Help !!  I'm headed down to Missoula this weekend and looking for a safe place to take out the nieces ( ages 2-4-7-17 ) on Sunday a.m.  Not looking for monsters ( 4-6" perch would be perfect ), just some good/easy action that will keep them entertained for an hour or so.  They live east of Missoula, so I was thinking of either Beavertail Pond or Harpers.  Any info would be much appreciated.......than ks

Harpers is packed full of perch ( also a chance to catch a giant fin-less trout too lol)  that size and you only need to walk about 50 yards. Might be easier than Upsata with that many little people.

As the others mentioned, Harpers and Beavertail are good choices for some perch and trout. The public pond in Lolo is another option for perch and bass.

Thanks, for the info guys !!!  Now I have a couple options and it sounds like we could have some good " little kid " action either way.   Hopefully, the ice is in decent shape and cold enough to keep the slushy mess down.

Just to throw it in, if your looking for really close, and very kid friendly, Frenchtown pond sounds like a decent stocked one (supposedly some very nice trout.)  A little too "in town" for the ice fishing feel i would imagine but...
Have Fun and stay safe
