Milwaukee clicking sound when drilling
« on: Jan 22, 2018, 12:30 PM »
Guys,

Got that Milwaukee M18 2704 on an 8” Nils. Awesome but drill has started making  clicking sound when drilling towards bottom of hole. It’s not a loose chuck issue. I can hear it in the motor. I have it set on drill and 1. I’m still within Home Depot 90 days. Should I return it or is this some normal high torque mode thing going on?

Thanks!

Sounds like you wrecked it.  Is that the lighter 4.5lb one with the hammer drill feature?  I'm not sure why but the non-hammer 2703-22 that I have is only a little heavier than that model and likely a different gearbox (more rigid).  Have used the crap outta mine and still working.

Take the drill off the auger, tighten the chuck all the way, hold the chuck in your hand and pull the trigger.  In drill mode you should not be able to stop it from turning, if you hear clicks something is broke.

Maybe it's normal for that model but mine just stops turning when the battery runs out

.. now the starter on my vehicles is a different story.  dead batt = click, click, click
