Sebago station thievery
« on: Jan 18, 2018, 08:40 PM »
While fishing at the station today some dirtbag went through my truck in the parking lot and stole like $14 cash that was on my dashboard, some winning scratch tickets and also took my "medication " from my glovebox. I always lock my truck, but today got distracted and forgot. Lesson learned. All in all I'm out around $200...  on a bright note I had a semi busy day on the ice!!  Always remember to lock your stuff up!! Plenty of dirtbags around too lazy to work for it...

Sorry to hear that usually doesn't happen there because people are always pulling in to watch.

I hate thieves as well but some simple precautions go a long way.  Why would you leave cash and scratch tickets on your dash?  Locked or unlocked that's just asking for a break in.

That sucks man! Im sure you lock up your truck 99% of the time. You were excited to fish and a scumbag noticed things in view. 😡

Scratch tickets were tucked above the sun visor,  cash was change from Dunkin'...  dumb to leave it on the dash I know, but hardly makes this my fault...

The way I had my truck parked, nobody just "noticed " things of value. Someone went there looking for something to steal...

Screw the few bucks it's the glove compartment loss that matters

Imagine my disappointment when I went out to "medicate" after getting the kids all tucked in...  thank god I had a backup plan stashed at home!!!  I just got off the phone with a deputy who assured me they would be making more of a presence there.

Pisser, just think how many bags of Doritos $14 can buy.

I'm just here to read what all the experts have to say.

Just read on another site, that a guy had a mr buddy heater, pack basket, traps and snow shoes stolen out of the back of his truck at Standish boat launch!!
Let's TRY to be more alert in the parking lot...let's catch these scum bags!
And remember always LOCK UP!

Maybe the Twon can install a camera for observation, like Rockwood, time lapse video, even if it didn't get the scum bags on camera, it might deter them. Sorry to hear of all the losses.

I almost felt bad for you until I caught on to what your "medication" was.

I had just left DHHS, after checking on all my entitlements. Went to the street corner to panhandle for a couple hrs.
Drove my new GMC truck to Sebago Station and couldn’t believe the score I found....some hard working Joe forgot to lock his truck. Made as much there as I did on the street corner, and felt great after I took my (well his) medicine. Only hope tomorrow will be as fruitful. Thanks  ;)

With another weekend coming up, and I'm sure a crowd.
I'm sure the thief or thieves will be lurking in the parking lot.
Be sure to lock your vehicles, and keep eyes open for suspicious people!!  Good Luck!

Hate to say it but the thief is most likely a man that was at the lake fishing just like you and noticed your door was unlocked, crime of opportunity.  As much as we want to think that it is some meth head that has no involvement in ice fishing and is targeting boat launches, it is probably an everyday guy that had no plans to rob you until he was given the opportunity.  Sorry your stuff was stolen and I hope they catch the person.

Funny thing is, they are very likely a member of this forum and reading this thread regularly.  They may even comment on it, hmmmm.....

Guess if this is what we are having to deal with. We need to leave our cams on so we can get this type of individual off the ice!!!!!!!!

You might not be familiar with the number and type of people that are in and out of that parking lot allday long with no intention of going fishing.

Only the old timers know about honesty back when my parents never locked a house or car door. The milkman came in the house & put the milk in the refrigerator and the "Cushman" bread and doughnut man "Sudsie", would leave the items on the kitchen counter.

I lock up everything, everybody should! My 35 years in law enforcement taught me well. It shouldn't have to be like that, but that's the way it is.;D

my truck's open
you'll notice a fair amount of ammunition and maybe even a couple bucks
please don't touch either; I work hard for them
but if you need the ammo, I have plenty more
in appropriate weapons
