Awesome job Smelty! Great looking pickerel. Good way to start the 2018 MA season. I caught a master angler Pike last spring not all that far from where you were fishing. Certainly a lot of big toothy predators in that area. Thanks for sharing.

Did he have a glow tungsten in him?  I got bit off earlier this year by something that almost spooled me on 4 lb. test.  Exactly where you're standing.

Pickerel sure love tungsten, especially the expensive ones! Nice fish smelty.

I only take the credit because 4/5 MA you entered last year were caught on trips with me all on spots I picked to fish. Seems only fair that the guide should get some credit lol

Nope, it's for anglers of all ages. Check out the full list of entries here...

Smelty- nice pickerel man! I got a few nice ones there last year in the winter and spring.

The Vermont Master Angler Program showcases the diversity of fishing opportunities that Vermont has to offer. It is open to both adults and kids (with a size differential). The website is http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/fish/fishing_events_and_programs/master_angler_program  It is a really cool program that I have been working on pretty hard over the past few years myself. 32 out of the 33 entered... that pesky hybrid has been rather elusive...
