In a moment of clarity I dropped a small counter sunk rare earth magnet over the nut holding the spool on.  Just get the hook close to it..........

I do it the easy way. I just let it get tangled in the lines on the other tip ups. LOL!

I like your idea. I'll have to look into it. Cuz my way is easy at the end of the day but a real pain the next time I take them out of the bucket!

I use a Velcro wrap.  It has a hole in the end which I put the hook through then wrap the Velcro around the spool.

i taped a piece of foam to the one end of my tip ups and hook the hook to that, unless its below zero out then i just throw em in the bucket and deal with them next time lol

i like the magnet idea!

I thought about wire tying a wine cork on the frame of a tip up to hold the hook.

i'll have to pick up some magnets, cleaner solution

I glue a small electrical alligator clip 6" above spool and use a rubber band from it to hook. Keeps the hooks up away from spool and leader length doesn't matter with rubber band.
