They look great. I've been tying hair on some tungsten jigs and having great results, plus I don't have to change ripped up plastics or buy the overpriced stuff.

I used a size 12 competition fly tying jig hook,  they are ridiculously sharp and barbless makes getting back down to fish faster. Then the body is a material called d-rib to make a nice segmented body. The hackle is a mottled brown hen hackle. For the weight I used 5-6 wraps of lead wire, to help hold the bead in place, and a black nickel tungsten bead that is a little bit oversized for the hook so it should sink a little faster.

I liked the vmc fly but I didn't feel like I got the quality I should have for the price so I made my own version. I will try them out this weekend should help get some crappies

I was thinking about ice flies the other day. Glad I saw this thread, gives me some ideas.  Thanks for posting, redneck.

No problem guys. All a guy needs to make any nymph pattern work for ice Fishing is a jig hook and enough weight to make it sink at a reasonable rate

1st class bugs. Good job. Wish I had a couple.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Nice! I've been debating it but a plain tungsten bead jig tipped with a mealie is as far as I have made it lol. Works good enoug.

I will still tip these with some kind of bait but the hackle will give it just that much more movement in the water I'm hoping. I will find out tomorrow  :)

Very nice, do you have good luck with them and what do you use for the segmented body if I may ask?

I have had luck with the jig I copied this from, I have tried them once since I tied them but the bite was so bad I could hardly get fish to bite anything so I didn't try them very long. The body is tied with a fly tying material called d-rib

Sweet job there redneck, they look great! Up till this year, mainly a tip up guy looking for big fish, but with my sh.tty Irish luck things don't always go that way. Been doing a lot of jigging lately to kill the time and really enjoying it! Good luck with them.
Cheers!

Good luck to you as well. I don't have the patience to wait for tip ups all day haha. I will set up 1 tip up or 3 or 4 depending where I'm fishing, some places I can use up to 6 lines, that way I can still jig also
safe ice, tight lines and god bless!
