Hey guys,
After a somewhat successful Little Alaska Outing. I would like to start planning for this upcoming season's north country outing.
Many more showed up than I thought would on the 1st Lake and it would be nice to do it all again this year. So seeing we have more time to plan, lets start tossing ideas around.
-
Last years date seemed well so we can do that again. And I guess the Connecticut lakes or lake. And I'm in!!!  And pick a lake that we should go to.
-
The family and I went over to Cheifbush's campsite lastnight for a afternoon filled with good company and great friends. We talked about the 2010 Team NH Outing - North and he suggested maybe we hold it on Lake Umbagog this year.
The reasons for possibly holding there are:
There is over 1 mile of plowed ice road.
5 traps/person
He will have his 8x10 there and I could bring my 8x12
The only thing I think we would need to look into is lodging,
-
I can get the names of several motels in the area as well as local bait shops. Umbagog has something for everyone, Pickeral, Bass, Perch, as well as some nice Brookies. Also plenty of parking, easy access, and I will have my hardside there in case it gets cold. I also keep my coleman stove and grill up there as well as a wood stove so there are plenty of cooking options. I will be helping DD getting this together. Anyway, let us know what you think.

Thanks man! Maybe we can make something of this! I am looking at getting a steel drum from the dump to make a BBQ out of........Let's see what we can do!
-
There are a lot of nice places to stay not to far from the lake for cheap money. I would make it a 3 day weekend fishing trip.
-
Lake Umbagog sounds good and I don't know about Maine unless it's not way northern Maine even though I love Maine. Also I did a map for where I live to Moosehead Lake it's 6 hr. drive!

Sorry I looked again and there is a long distance for you. But count me for Umbagog lake trip! Umbagog's has got good fishing and it would work out in February since last year did, and make sure it's not a -20 below weekend like KissMyBassNH said.
-
You will be missed, please try to rearrange your appointments
-
Maybe we can have a derby for bragging rights only. (as we foung out last year, F&G does watch this site and we don't want to hold a derby without a permit)
-
Just call it an friendly get to gather, Same thing on the chartier boats with the fish pool.
-
So where are we going to fish?
-
Lake Umbagog on the NH side. Just off the boat launch.....more to follow.
-

Yeah, we did ok last year. The thing I like most is there are lots of species and plenty of flags to keep the kids busy. We usually ended up with 7-8 each time we went, some brookies, sm bass, pickeral, perch and even a salmon.
-
I ventured over to the launch today to check the ice situation...........No thing yet. :'(
-
It will not be long, our nights down here are around the mid 50's all summer long. We may have an early winter or we may just not even have a winter the way the weather is this year.

I hear ya about the temps......I frequently burn the wood stove in the morning to take the chill off. There has not been a week this summer in which I did not see my breath in the morning at least once.
-
i know its been a wierd summer im not gonna complain the cool water keeps the big pike in the shallows

Absolutely!!! Everyone is invited. No ice up here yet. Outing will probably be sometime in Feb.....More to follow!!!!

I'm in with at least one friend. We may stay at my camp on the other side of the state and ride the sleds over for one day or maybe we'll bring a shack up and stay the weekend. All depends on how the winter turns out I guess!
