For my area the normal ice out is the first Sat. in May. It usually is the same time as the the opening day.
I hope this year is no exception.

I remember one year that the ice did not melt until early June. ::) :P

On a average year about March 15-20th....I got a PM from a friend and fellow IS member today and he was on "soft" ice a few days ago.  He said that as he was walking out he could see more and more water coming up onto the ice where there was none when he started out. He headed back and called it quits for the season...Smart!!!! I think the "Fat lady" has sang in my neck o' the woods... WK :(
Give your son a fish, and he will eat for a day.....teach your son to fish and eventually he'll end up kicking your @ss every time you fish together!!!

I can remember times there was still ice on the lakes on Easter weekend , but we haven't seen that in few years, We have to pull icehouses off March 15th but we have not even been that lucky the last couple years. Bad ice >:(
Even a bad day fishing beats a good day at work.

Most years there is a couple lakes that are still fishable the second weekend in April.  That is when our open water trout season also begins

I'll be headed out tomorrow for the last time this season.  Might get another weekend but I don't think I'll press my luck.

Early to mid May in Northwestern Ontario(Dryden area) ...hard to tell when iceout will be this year ....the weather has been dipping down to -20C to -25 C(2 to 7 degrees F below zero)...it's still making ice out there .The temp. hasn't been above zero C(32 F) for about a week and a half .
When I removed my shack  there was 40 inches of ice underneath it .

Guiding up at Wollaston, Sask a few years ago it was July 17 before all the ice was gone.  I'm heading up to Tazin Lake, Sask in 2 weeks and we are going to land a plane on the ice with lumber, fuel and supplies.  Will be a late thaw in sask this year.  We had a late snow along with Thick ice here that put things behind.

hopefully its gone soon.  was ice fishing on the sask river today and there was LOTS of ice.  it was lifting all day but not to bad.  cracking and groaning all day.  have to jump onto ice so you dont get a booter.

where i go for opener there supposedly driving trucks on the lake across the road.  usually the ice is almost yellow by now.  last year the lake was open in a week from now.  maybe opening day will be an ice fishing day.
