Places to go other then Deep Creek
« on: Nov 26, 2013, 08:26 PM »
Weathers getting colder and I want to try my hands at Ice Fishing. Are there any good places to go that are pretty close to Baltimore. I know deep creek is the best place in MD but that's a 4 hour drive for me.

Lot of lakes north of you (pa)...2-3 hour haul but better than four. But you are gonna need colder weather than what we have had...in and around Harrisburg areas...best bet will be in January

Not a whole lot freezes over well near Baltimore, unless of course we have a frigid winter. Even so, if you don't want to buy the PA license, you;re probably better off going to deep creek. (Although I find it to only be a 3 hour drive with the flow of traffic).

I live in Washington County,Md.There are 5 lakes near here in Md. that have enough ice most winters.Would be about 1 to 2 hours from Baltimore. There lakes are Rocky Gap (neasr Cumberland,Md.),Little Pool,Big Pool,Blair's Valley and Greenbrier.Last 2 winters they didn't freeze enough but they unusually mild winters.
