Lyons was iced over. Didn't check thickness. With this cold weather it should be good for the weekend. Going to Kenora on friday. Will check thickness.

The fact that it iced over is a good sign. Last year Dec.3rd me and buddy hit the ice there and the lake as wide open with the exception of about 50 yards out. Fished beside the "T" dock on 3" with open water not far away,  the water was only 5 1/2' feet deep, but managed 6 i believe in 2 hours.  Can't wait to hit the ice and have a rematch with the monster rainbow my buddy dropped back in the hole! LOL

i think that lake ices quick because a week after you were out the weekend of december 11 last year me and a buddy went out and there was ten inches so I'm guessing by this weekend it should be good if its been completly frozen over already since monday and its been around -20 the last few nights

Yeah it already looked like it had been frozen a couple of days. Small animal prints on it. I walked along the railing at the T dock a few steps, and it felt solid. Just didn't want to venture out too far, and the plan was to get my auger out on the way home but had some vehicle issues that ate up all my time...I will be there on Sat if everything goes according to plan... ;D

Stopped by Lyons this morning and drilled a few holes. Didn't venture out too far, but there was 3" of ice near the dock. Take proper precautions, figured the ice would have been thicker by now..... :o
