Had a great day with the family today on 36" of ice under 8" of snow. Screaming' hot (about 8C/45F) and got a bit of a sunburn. The forecasted lows aren't below freezing later this week so it'll go quickly now, but it has been one hell of a season while it lasted. Anyone else still ice fishing?

Still making ice here in the Yellowknife area.
Was -20C when I got up this morning.
Not supposed to get up to the freezing point until mid week.
Springs coming though.

Going out in the morning to a lake that's 16 mile North of town.
My brother in law was up there yesterday. He said that the ice is still in pretty good shape.

It’s snowing right now and it’s still been getting down around -10F at night up at the lake. I hate to say it but I’m over it and ready to start catching halibut. It seemed like every time I went to the shack it was -30 or colder and the fishing was pretty crappy. It’s pretty sad when your biggest fish of the year is only a 15 pound burbot. Bring on the Butts and Bears.

About 3 1/2" in Moscow mule.

There are others that have it worse.
Like me!!! Was sick with a bad flu for 32 days in late fall and have been sick since mid-January with an even worse bout of the flu. I'm kind of wondering if it was the Corona but I never had a high fever and two sets of x-rays were clear.
Have been to the cabin only once. Went to head out there today and my sled battery was toast.
Picked up a new one, filled it with acid and it's on the charger now.

Better luck to ya Dave!!! :icefish: :flex:

Drifter = The battery is least of the problems, the 'flu' could have been worse - your still here, count your blessings

I ended up in emergency twice because of that damn bug.
The second time my BP was fine when I went through triage but when they got me in to see the doc it was sky high. I have no idea why as I don't have high blood pressure. It was 193 over 130 at one point and I think I'm very lucky I didn't stroke out.
It's the first time having to go to the hospital since I was 14.
At least it's nice and new as it opened last summer. :)

We are still ice fishing here in N/W Ontario. 7F this morning with above freezing temps forecast for the daytime starting on Friday, still snow in the bush, but the roads and exposed areas have lost most of the snow, probably at least 2' of ice left on the lakes. Our walleye season ends after April 14th, so since the trout lakes I like to fish are remote and not accessible because of too little snow in places for snowmobiles and too much snow for 4-wheelers, it looks like crappie will be the fish of choice until ice-out, sometime in May.

still making ice here, will be close to -20c here again tonight.

I was fishing on Meadowlark Lake in the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming yesterday and there was 3 feet of ice. Getting soft, though, with lots of water filling up about half way down when I was drilling. Very hard to get through the last 10 inches or so with so much water in the hole. Fishing was pretty good for rainbow and brook trout.

Hey Glen, Viva Naughton still has ice. Going fast though. My brother in law fished it two days ago up by the cliffs. Up where I used to see you fishing.
Tight lines

We fished Friday the 24th on 3ft of ice that is solid but showing signs it won't last much longer. I'm keeping my eyes on this Friday so I can officially say the season was November to May!
-
i fished 9000' in Colorado few days ago. ice was 2 and a half feet thick but I had the same problem you did Glen where the hole was filling up with water as I drilled. does that mean that the ice on the lower part is getting bad? Have never had that happen before.

We're still waiting for spring here in Yellowknife.
Was -10C with -30C windchills this morning out at the lake.
Ice is 4 to 5 feet thick on the lake.
The snow is still 3 feet deep and there has been little to no melting so far.
I can't even see my dock as it's buried by 5 feet of snow at this time.
The way it's going I'll still be able to drive up the lake until late May. :o
