I spent Fri-Sun fishing Moultonborough Bay, hoping for a laker but taking whatever I could catch.
No lakers, no big perch or bass, and plenty of dink perch and some sunfish.
The pleasant part was when I landed a number of huge sunfish.
I mean HUGE!
I will always enjoy jigging up a "hand-sized" sunny on a light action rig, but when these beasts hit I thought I had hooked a decent white perch!
The ones I caught (spaced out over the 3 days) were all in the 10" size.
You know a sunfish is big when you can barely grip in with one hand!
Nice to know that they can and DO get that big!

That sounds like a dream, I love the way those buggers fight!
Sounds like a good time was had.

Nice job big sunfish are a blast. Very aggressive fish. Real fun on 2lb test too.

Oh, and I should mention that the ice was still about 18" up that way, and solid up to the shore.
The weather forecast is calling for a number of sub-freezing days and cold nights to add to the length of the season!
