Just an fyi. Walking back in to fort ann beach we had a heavy spud going through 5 inches on one hit. My cheapy spud wasn't on one but the ice lost a lot of integrity today.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.

Glad you got out and back safe ship.
It is degrading pretty quick.  Still,  some left to fish yet.
Back at it again tomorrow for me

I was out off Huletts today.  There was about a foot of ice everywhere I drilled, but I set up for a while at one side-by-side pair of old holes and there was only 5-6" in that spot!  At first I thought I just wasn't seeing the clear part of the bottom of the ice but then I checked it with my skimmer.  It startled me because it didn't look like the water had been draining down them; there was no "spider webbing" around them, anyway.

Today's warm temperatures and high winds did a number on the ice.  I think tomorrow might be my last day out there.  I had a great season and was happy the lake froze for the first winter of my retirement.  :-)  Our ice fishing time is growing very short.  Next comes the long wait until ice-out!

Tight lines,
Bob

It seemed like the water that was on top yesterday morning was 99% absorbed by the end of the day.
That ice is going to start going white this week. Today may be 1 of my last treks on the machine, but I did see 2 trucks out by Diamond Island yesterday.
Get it in while you can boys! The end is near.

Ice getting really  sketch in north basin.  Areas that were solid in am were messy in pm.  Water is percolating down through ice forming those channels that signal end is near.  First clue was standing water in am disappeared by noon. Be careful out there.  We sound ourselves on an acre size chunk of floating ice that surprised us.  Ice was 8+ inches thick but cracks opened up a couple of inches all around us making for a quick exit.

Just curious... I don't fish Lk George much, but wondering from the guys that do.  Have the resent winters that have not allowed much fishing made a difference in the size of perch that you guys are catching?  I know that last year there was a lot of buzz about the fish being allowed to grow up.  Personally, I tend to think that a good winter that allows fish to be caught would then allow the remaining fish to feed heavy giving you better fish next season.   Again, just curious as to how this has all played out.

Lakers don't get big in one extra year of feeding.  Fat sure, but they grow less then an inch year after around 8 years old, then live very long.  It take awhile for new 30 inch fish to grow, decades i should say.  Not saying don't keep fish or anything, just think that is what people are worried about.

While I didn't do LG today,  the other big lake up there did go down hill  fast from all the rain last night and today.  I was really surprised.
The bite however today was the best it's been all season

Finally got some size to one, 34" 13lbs. Hooked itself, 15 FOW, peeled every inch of line (all 150' of it in less than a minute), luckily my reel knot held tight.

Northern end got on safe, coming off had to look out for old holes turned craters.

15 fow = 15 feet of water, or 180 inches, 4.75meters. Not 150 feet of water.

No need to be snotty,a simple 15 FOW  water would have been  sufficient ,
And it’s 4.572meters =15’

Sorry I rounded it off.

I should have posted 4.572 meters =“15 fow water”  ;D

And I was joking around

Did anyone find a jigging rod out on the ice yesterday? Went out of Hearthstone, would’ve been a celcius rod with a shimano reel
