I have a new Buddy heater and the thing is super sensitive to any movement and will shut off , It seems like i am forever relighting this thing, is there a way to disconnect that safety switch, nice heater but i might park it and use something else

I like my Paulin heater, basically the same, but no auto turn off, and has its own ignitor

I believe that if you have a look in the equipment section or do a search there will be quite a lot of posts on these and their problems of going out.
From last year when I had the same problem, I surmized that it was because the O2 sensor was too sensitive. I found no where explaining how to modify. Several other posters suggested wind covers etc but in my situation there was no wind and it would light the first time like for 10 mins and then it would go out. You'd then have to wait a couple minutes and it would relight and then go out even quicker. Got to the point where I was missing fish because of fiddling with it.
I gave up on mine (returned to Cabelas) and got a different kind of heater. It is the single burner heater/cooktop without any safety gadetry on it. I figure I'm and adult and can ventilate my shanty well enough.

A friend of mine told me he had the same problem, and went inside and was able to disconnect it.

Mine is pretty sensitive, quite annoying. Any touch and it goes out. Works great otherwise, might look into modifying it, seemed to help when I switched from 1lb tanks to a 5lb'er, not sure why. I find relighting is sometimes hard too when it goes out. Anyone actually fix these problems?

Lone Wolf designed a metal shield to protect the pilot light from gusts of wind. I belive there is stil a thread about it somewhere. In my opinion they're a pile of junk and I keep one only as a back up. I had one that flashed over in my face and kept leaking fuel. It was especcially annoying 'cause it happened at -20 deg F in the middle of nowhere on my vacation. I had it replaced by the company, but I switched to a sunflower type that doubles as a portable stove to warm up my food when I'm icefishing

I used a buddy last year and it fell apart on me, literally in three pieces. I took it back and bought a big buddy and have had no problem as of yet.............this year will tell

i have also had this problem but when i pulled it out to use this year i wasn't getting any gas to light the pilot and it appeared that the pilot orifice was clogged. i looked at replacement parts for it and they do sell the pilot assembly without the oxygen deal.
