Mr Heater Buddy
« on: Dec 09, 2018, 06:37 PM »
Where does everybody put their buddy heater?  I just got a buddy heater and was wondering if they’re ok to put them mounted in the tub or just on the ice. Just looking for options.

Above the ice on a crate. If you put it on the floor it makes the shack a pond.

Or, if your configuration works, in the sled behind the seat. This works for me.

Got a floor in mine so that's where it will go unless I find it will work better higher up in the shack.

I find it better to put it right in the ice so I don't burn my gear.

I picked a sun shield that you put on your windshield at a garage sale.   I put that on the ice,   then buddy heater, its light and reflects heat.

goes on a spare seat cushion in front of me. i don't want it in my sled, there is nothing behind me i need warmed up.
i can thaw the ice scoop and keep my coffee hot hanging them over the heater. helps keep holes open and warm hands and face.

I did this in my Clam Kenai Stealth Thermal. It is just a 4 inch diameter piece of PVC pipe cut to allow most of the disposible tank to fit inside the pipe.

I have a little buddy heater for my Clam and it usually heats it up too much so I open the top of the door for ventilation. I put it right on the ice and I don't have any problem with the ice getting sloppy.

I've always kept mine on the ice...

3300, I have to try hanging my scoop that way, looks like it will keep it off the ice, thawed and right on hand. Thanks!

I like the idea with the PVC pipe, I have a little buddy and a big buddy. I think i might mount a pipe in my tub and take my little buddy for the extra cold days, and build a little platform to hold my big buddy so I don't create a pond in my shack. Thanks for the responses and good luck to everybody this season.

I've never had a problem with putting mine right on the ice in a flip over, or on the plastic floor of a suitcase style.

Currently right on the ice, but I'm going to try a crate this year with the interlocking foam mats.

I keep mine on the ice. I cycle it on and off in my Shappel FX100 since it gets too hot in there. I don't really get the puddles that everyone refers to.
