New to ice shanty

Hey guys , just joined this forum and just started ice fishing last winter. Took a couple trips up to north rock creek on the dry arm and one trip to the power houses on ft. Peck dam. Was really hoping for my first lake trout but only caught a couple small perch on those three trips. Fast forward to this summer and I have acquired a flip over and a new used gas auger. Going to spend a lot more time on peck this winter trying to chase lake trout. I think I am going to learn a lot from this forum. Here’s to a better ice season coming up.

welcome My-Marty if you have not already done this go to the forum/board labeled Trout it should have several threads giving folks opinions on gear and techniques used to catch lake trout. Have a good hard water season I've seen posted here on Ice Shanty photos of trophy fish that came from the waters of Fort Peck.

New as well to the site, and mostly new to hard water. I typically fish back country mountain lakes in the summer/fall, but hoping to try out some of the major reservoirs this winter. And if I'm feeling crazy enough, maybe some Beartooth lakes.

It doesn't sound that appealing to most people I talk to, but going out onto a frozen lake and staring into a hole for the day is my favorite thing to do.
