I weighed mine.

<°)))>{

I guess Strikemaster must be lying then cause they weigh their mora blue  at 8lbs.  See the spec charts below.

It's possible, my scale is off, and also possible, the weights posted on that chart are the shipping weights, including box, handle, packaging..

Mine is just under 4lbs, no handle, no blade cover..

Maybe someone else can weigh their 8" Mora to confirm..

The Strikemaster listed weight specs on their site for every one of their hand augers and power augers is spot on estimate and not a shipping weight.

No way the 8” mora weighs 4lbs when my 6” Strikemaster Lazer Synthetic Ultra lite auger weighs just a tad under 5lbs.

I would weigh mine again, but it now is even lighter through modifications..

Like I said, maybe someone else can weigh their 8" Mora..

I've never found printed weights from companies to be "exact" they are usually ball park and then tend to be on the heavy side of the estimates for shipping reasons.

And example I have is I got a 10lb down rigger ball for my down rigger from cabelas. I was checking some dropper chains to see about strength......so I weighed the down rigger ball.....it was like 7lbs or so. Sent a pic to cabelas....I got a $20 gift card.

To each their own i’ll just leave it at that.

I have own all the following at one point and have weigh the 8” Lazer Pro, 8” Honda lite, 8” Lazer hand. 7” Lazer hand, 7” mora blue, 6” Lazer Synthetic, Nils 8” with a digital scale.

As I have said the strikemaster listed spec on their site pretty spot on close estimate.  I have weighed my augers and looked at the spec sheet in the past for the reason that light weight is a big deal for me as I run and gun a lot of up 200+ holes.  On searching basin crappie days it can be up to 400 holes.

So what size and auger did you prefer?

Did you ever try the K- Drill? it seemed the lightest to me so far on my digital fish scale just the 6 inch auger with the cover was just shy 5#.

The 160mm (6.3") Strikemaster Lazer Synthetic auger (ready to drill) no blade cover, no extension, weighs 3pounds 8ounces.
Weighed on a certified USPS scale.
Next week we'll start a new topic labeled "AUGER PORN" which will list the weights of augers "Bare", with "Blade Covers"
and with "Extensions and covers".
Hopefully we'll see you there with factual information.

LOL, you want to see me there with factual info?  Not sure what your deal is in this but feel free to give us all exact numbers you want sheesh.  All I pointed out was that the Strikemaster listed weight on their spec sheets were pretty close to what I have found weighing my augers at too.  And that an 8” mora at 4lbs doesn’t seem right.

As far I remember my Lazer Synthetic 6” with the clam plate extension bar on my digital scale came in around 4.6lbs-4.8lbs or so.  With the turning handle connected instead it likely weigh a little more?  Without that extension the auger alone no handle I remember it being right around 4lbs.  I don’t have access to any special certified scales for use.  I no longer own my Lazer synthetic and can’t reweigh to check for the part that I sold it as I now own a Mora Nova Black 6”.

I prefer the Mora Nova 6” for specific reasons, the Strikemaster 6” Lazer Synthetic has the same cutting head and blades.  80% of the time on my outings im using this auger.

Once im sitting on fish I prefer larger holes with either my 8” Kdrill and or 7” Lazer hand which ever I brought along.

Are you saying you bring two augers when you are on the ice?

Only if I have a vehicle.  If I’m pulling sled or walking it’s usually only the 6” mora as I can pull most of the fish I’m after out of that 6 1/3” hole.

Makes sense, I've pulled monster walleye through a 6", it's almost funny how these walleye can squeeze through..

On thicker ice 20”+ it can be a bit of challenge getting a larger walleye up that 6” hole.  The worry that the fish will get off while trying to turn its head in and also that the lure hook may catch under the ice.  But for the most part it’s possible.

I just weighed a gallon of water, with that same scale, and it weighed a tad under 8lbs..

Based on that, I'll say an 8" Mora, (which has 7" flights but uses 8" blades) without the handle or blade cover, weighs no more than 4.25 Lbs...

Also in hand, the gallon feels twice as heavy as the auger..

No comments on that last post?

Maybe someone else with a slightly modern Mora 8" will weigh in on the matter?

I'll bite but I think we're in agreement lol that weight proves Eskimo has huge balls trying to pull this off and so far it seems like it might pay off. Can't be saving much more than a pound and should have the same cutting results. I'm sure some pro will promote it and it'll become a "must have". I swear you could sell dog crap to some fisherman if the company and some fisherman on tv says it'll help you catch fish.

Lol, ain't that the truth..

They say some lures catch fish, some catch fisherman..

Although this new Eskimo sounds like the lightest ever..

My angle is the Mora is lighter than the Kdrill, not the Eskimo...

I'll be the first to admit I buy way to many lures....95% of the ones in my tackle box have never seen water.
