Got out to the cabin again today.
We took out the replacement window for the one that was messed up by the manufacturer.
Got it installed too.   ;D

The weather was awesome!!!!
Got a bit of a sunburn with the mile high blue skies and reflection off the snow.
The wind though................ ...... :roflmao:

Then I also hauled out 2,400#'s of pellets for the stove as well.

Looks like your ready to go once stove pipe is installed , will the pellet stove be your only heating source. Any plans for solar panels to run the electrical system .

Yep, will be getting a full high end system down the road.
Got a few panels, charge controller and a 3KW inverter that will fill in until I get the big system.

Thank you for the reply did not think you would only use generator. Hauling fuel to your cabin's location and storing it presents it's own set of problems and concerns .
What are your main goals to accomplish this building season?

Dave, noticed on your weather app that the sunrise was 6:16am, sunset is 9pm, wow! Solar panels will definetly go a long way there this time of year...
Hard to believe its warmer there than here right now... ;D

Currently I'm on generator only but am only using about 1 gallon of fuel per day in my 2,000 watt Yamaha.
When I need to use the big drill or air compressor I have to use the 4,500 watt genny that uses quite a bit more fuel.

I want to get the exterior finished and the pellet stove installed.
Anything else will be a bonus. :)

No shortage of sun from March to October in these parts. :)
With the system I'm putting together I should only need the genny in the winter to help keep the batteries topped up.
Usually just a couple of hours a day.
I'm installing a remote starter that you can set to start when the battery voltage drops to a certain level and it will run until the batteries are charged back up.

How will you keep the generator warm enough to start in really cold weather?

Drifter- 016 /Dave you must have done a lot of research before starting the build to have all the knowledge about construction and electrical systems.

The sound & fireproofed) generator room is located in the basement of the cabin which will be heated with a small propane furnace.
The 100# propane tanks will be in a small insulated closet off the back of the cabin which can be heated with an incandescent light bulb to keep the propane from gelling at temps below about -35. Should be able to make up a thermostat system to turn the bulb on and off.  :)

WOW! you are definitely doing that up right. Neither of the 2 Honda generators I have will start worth a darn when it is below freezing (have to bring them in and set them by the wood stove), was thinking about an insulated space with a Buddy heater for my cabin's backup generator when we get short on solar.  Very impressive, I am jealous.

Got one day of work done at the cabin this weekend (it was a 3 day long weekend here)  >:(
Rained pretty much the entire day on Sunday and the weather guys were calling for it to continue along with near gale force winds from the South on Monday. As I'm at the far North end of the lake I thought it would be prudent to get out of Dodge as soon as I could so I didn't get weathered in. So at 3 PM on Sunday afternoon during a lull in the rain I got out of there.
Fast forward to holiday Monday, I crawl out of bed and notice it's not raining and there is nearly no wind.  ???
It did end up raining for a few hours but the wind never came.
Could have got some stuff done if I hadn't left early because of the forecast.  :%$#!: :%$#!: :%$#!: :%$#!:
Vacation shifted to next week.  ;)
