Some of the northern bays had started to ice over.  Be interesting to see what happens Thanksgiving when high temps only in mid teens and lows around 0 are expected.

Thanks.  Looks like the frigid weather will be wasted this week as it is supposed to be really windy as well.

Snow is starting to build up on the hills!   Was up on Shaw Hill today and there was over 8" on the ground at a friend's house.   Down at water's edge there are 4-5".   We're getting closer and closer!

I'm psyched!

Any signs of ice on the lake yet? Should be good weather for a few days.

Entire north basin from Narrows north iced over last night.  Question is, will it stay.

Right on.  Let's hope some zebra mussles get jammed in your waterpump.

Hmmm. That would be a first... especially since schroon doesn’t have zebra mussels. I get your little joke tho. Motor blows up - funny...  but that’s why we have boaters insurance... and that’s why we also have alarms to prevent a over heat boom 🤣

Yea , anyone who comes to an ice forum wishing it melts , deserves backlash.
I hope it grows and grows until May 2019

;)

Yeah, your probably correct but if your trying to point your finger towards me as that guy, point it at someone else. I actually know the precautions to prevent invasive species spread and my boat is completely hand wiPed down the second it comes out of the water, and the bilge is washed once a week with simple green and a complete soap bath inside and out. Nice try tho.

Little early in the year to be doing this bickering with you already.

My comment towards the ice was because I had my last season open water trip planned to schroon today. I don’t care it has ice now, just bummed I didn’t get out there this fall/ winter.

I cant wait to jig some Lakers.  That's all I care about.  The above was a joke.  Perhaps the best advice would be not to come to shanty while lusting for open water.   ;D

South end is still wide open but totally locked up north of the narrows. Couple inches at most but locked up tight nonetheless

No launch access to the open water I assume?

There was a couple groups of people on Schroon today.  They had short ski's or long ice skates and the had some kind of sail devise. Off the boat launch and out by the Island.

I'll be out there Saturday. Had decent luck for Lakers last year before the king froze. Hoping to repeat.

Sounds like there should be some ice at the northern boat launch? I am finishing up some work in Plattsburgh right now and have my glide lite in the car- if I can get done early enough I might make a stop to jig for a bit on the way home. If anyone has any info/advice please feel free to shoot me a PM.

Going to try to beat the rain tomorrow.  Not ice I want to be on if the water is rising!
