When skies are gray, fish are ready to play.

Wind from the south, hooks in their mouth. Wind from the west fish bite the best. South west winds the way to go  ;)

definately better.

ive only ever had one stellar blue sky day. and that was late last march. the planets must have aligned or something.

My rule of thumb is that if its a nice day to fish, its not a nice day to fish. if the clouds are rolling in, the bite is on.

either way ill still get out, but id prefer to fish the crappy days.

I'd say the bite is usually better, but don't ever count out a sunny day just got to change it up a little.  I have caught some of my best salmon on a good bright day.  Once the water warms in mid summer the fish are going to be deeper so the light is less of a factor its more about finding the bait.

I haven't caught a lot of big Browns, but most of them that I've caught come on the worst day to fish. Snow sleet rain.

I believe it is tied to air pressure, cloudy days lower air pressure.

You can't get to many bright day's, with those dark cloud's that seem to follow you around.

The start of a low pressure/ storm system is the best fishing in my opinion, in a storm that lasts for days I have found only the first couple of days to be good fishing, after that the fish have fed so heavily they don't bite nearly as well
Its not a passion its an obsession

When the wind is from the east, the fish bite the least.
When the wind's from the south, it blows the bait into the fish's mouth.
When the wind's from the west, the fish bite the best.
And when the wind's from the north, nary a fisherman dares go venturing forth!

God always gets a chuckel when he watches a fisherman standing in the rain fishing. He must think he should of stir in a little more brains in the batter. But he usually takes pity on the poor soul and rewards him with at least a good story. ;D
