most of the advice on here says . Set bait 1 - 3 fèet under the icè. Would that hold true the lakes

What kind of salmon are out there on the Great Lakes
-
Kings, Coho, Rainbow trout, brown trout, and Lake trout. Rare opportunity for Pink and Atlantic Salmon
-
You're not going to get on Lake Ontario .. doesn't freeze. Some parts of Erie do , mostly bays and such. But forget about trying to ice fish for kings, coho's. Inland lakes in the 'daks carry populations of Land Locked salmon.
Good Luck

A big king from Lake Ontario would be an amazing fight. Too bad it did not freeze. Bigger rods for sure. The lakers would be awesome too.

lake superior around and bayfield . And the fish are ok to eat.

Im lost with your question??? And I live right here!

In some of the WI harbors you can get Browns and Rainbows, Possibly a king since some stay in the harbors that don't attempt to spawn. haven't fished them myself though so couldn't help you with the set up, but Browns are usually on the bottom.

I fish salmon ,herring ,rainbow, lk trout threw the ice in lk superior and do quite well. We normally use pimples and put them anywhere from 3ft under the ice to the bottom and pound the heck out of it

We catch the pinks in the u.p of michigan. near sault ste marie.

Thats just during the fall run. Just about any creek off of Lake Superior will have some cohos and rainbows this time of year. I usually fish in about 5ft of water on the safest ice as close to the mouth as i can get.
