Sm Mag 2000 vs. Eskimo Mako
« on: Jan 08, 2004, 10:16 PM »
I'm in the market for a power auger.  Since the most ice we get around here (NW PA) is 18" inches or so, and since I'll use a hand auger until the ice is over 7-8" I need a reasonably priced yet dependable auger.  I've narrowed it down to the Strikemaster MAG2000 and the Eskimo Mako.  I've heard good things about both, but am looking for some input from people that have used both.  I'm not really concerned about which one cuts 2 seconds faster...more with dependability, easy starting, maintenance, etc.  Any input is appreciated.
