I'm sorry if I posted before you JAM3S, but the thought of another get together was killing me, and I thought no better time then now to start planning, you know it's never tooearly. We need to try to get this thread made into a sticky so it never gets lost and you don't have to search everywhere to find it.

I have been thinking about it Hank, you still probably beat me by a couple weeks though. Thanks for the sticky HIMO. I nominate Merritt again, this time I'll keep the camper on pavement or just stay in a cabin. I think someone mentioned last year having two meets, east and west. Only problem is where is there good fishing here in the east? Hopefully all this green crap will die out by 12/1

I was just thinking about this last week and seeing if there should be an early and late ice get together. Not too early. Refuge would be a fun time.

I'd like to join you guys again if the dates work. I really want to get a big gill through the ice. We should have fishable ice in the mountains here in CO in 4 or 5 weeks. Can't wait.

We obviously will be a while yet, but will have to watch the ice conditions closer this year, and also have an alternate date. Jam3s I will PM you my phone number and sometime when you get a chance I would like to talk. FS yes we will be looking for some big gills, have some other places to go if the ice will cooperate. Was quite a trip for everyone involved and I would like to see everyone catch some quality fish.

The best ice for a get together is on Cass Lake in MN. We went there in January. I don't know what JAM3S meant about staying on the asphalt, but just a guess he got stuck. On Cass Lake he could drive out on the ice, it was nice fishing out of the Suburban.

Nope, not stuck. I was pulling my 1971 23' Vagabond camper through the refuge lakes since it was on the way out. 5 straight miles of washboard roads rattled the old relic to pieces. Nothing 4 lbs of brad nails didnt fix, but still keeping the camper on pavement from now on.

Another note, I think the idea of a Nebraska IceShanty get-together is to fish our state waters. To fish a part of the state we may not usually get to. I think a few guys, including myself, are looking into a Devils Lake trip this season.

I vote the Nebraska Iceshanty get together should take place in Nebraska. I know many of us have trips planned to trips to Devils Lake North Dakota and Minnesota and all points in between . But let's plan on the Nebraska ICEshanty get together being in Nebraska I'm not opposed to a East and West Get together because I know it's difficult to get from Scotts Bluff to here and vice verse a. Or we could do something in the middle of the state so we all converge on one area fish eat ,sleep, drink And fish not necessarily in that order. I do a tremendous amount of traveling from my job would be more than happy to help coordinate the lodging, Food , Other accommodations and whatnot ...... Let me know what I can do to help I would love to have the Nebraska IceShanty community Have a big ol' party some were fun

I don't know what you mean no good fishing here in the east. I've pulled 3 ma gills from WT in a single day and easily over 100 keepers in a day at wildwood! I do enjoy the Sandhills but don't think fishing here is bad.

We have plenty of keeper bluegill and crappie, and the occasional keeper bass. Dont know who's going to drive more than an hour for that though when you can get that anywhere else in the state. You cant tell me this year has been as good as the last five.
