Lotta fillets wowza. I'd be scared to harvest 13"+ fish in my spots. It'd be a dinkfest for years...
It's the exact opposite for perch on most lakes. If perch become too numerous their average size decreases and the dinkfest begins. The lake on which I was fishing is 12 miles long and receives almost no fishing pressure so taking some big ones doesn't hurt the lakes perch population. I do agree though, harvesting big walleye/pike/or other sport fish is a no no.

very nice, especially knowing how hard you worked at getting a good jumbo this year!
My mistake.Man, I thought I was the only one that let life's events get in the way of ice fishing. Didn't used to be that way...Personally, I made it out 5 times this year. Not good but not my worst winter either-which was last year, two times. This with back yard lake putting out new state record perch regularly lately. Now it's over for this winter here. Oh wellIf you ever want to make a trip to Idaho and pound some awesome perch, give me a shout. I've invited Taxi1 and JT to no avail yet. I would free room and board you and anyone you bring, as well as share some local knowledge-thou it doesn't take a lot of skill to clean up on jumbos here. (offer always stands for you other two as well)
