seneca has the bigest perch i have seen. they will eat eastern ny slobs. however, through the ice irondequoit and sodus do have slobs BUT, Lake george is THE KING. Not huge but if you want alimit of 10-12 inch fish in four hours while throwing back 100 8-9 inchers it rocks. " All Hail The KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :o :o :o ;D ;)

Not Lake George all the perch were "poached" out of that body of water last year.  ;)
Thanks for the heads up. Not making the trip now. ;)

Not only that, I heard they poisoned it off and not even a minnow survived :-/ I also heard if you go within a 5 mile radius of the lake you get some sort of gamo radiation :o

That would explain the strange glow all my fishing equipment has.

I agree with RG that Keuka has the largest thru the ice. (If you can find them.)

Under the ice ;D

If it freezes, and that's a big if, the north end is the best place to explore. Problem is you need to get out to 30-40fow. The south end can be very dangerous although I have had many years when it was completely fishable. Every year I see guys who push the edge of the ice down there. Just plain foolish.

There are a few favorite spots for me I won't tell you...but I'll be happy to show you.....if it freezes. I'm hoping!

By the way, the picture in my signature of me in my trap was taken by a student doing a documentary on ice fishing in NY. It was on Canandaigua Lake...at one of my favorite spots.

ill have to say sodus bay, ive always fished it since i was about 8 years old with my dad and friends, ive learned how to locate the fish as ive fished it very much the past 4 years.  and it makes it pretty easy once it freezes since its only a stone throw away from the house. definatly sodus

Through the ice my #1 is Sodus Bay and my#2 would be a place nobody has mentioned - Cayuga.  You have to weed through some dinks but it is easier to find them there than on Keuka.  However, nothing beats the slobs out of Seneca even if you do have to fish from a boat...

There's many spots on sodus that hold hogs however, I seem to do my best of the points of leroy Island and off 3rd creek with an occasional pike and walleye in about 20-25fow it's quite a hike with gear but really really worth it..A swap day sounds great I'll keep you posted on the ice conditions..it's not ready yet but soon..I got the fever so I'm gonna try loon 2morrow morning if braddocks isn't ready to go

My favorite for big perch is about 5 miles off Sturgeon point on lake Erie. Lets pray to the ice gods that we get good ice this season.
