Is the road on the back side of the res open with all this snow or is the only access through Dorchester right now?
Any day you can walk on water is a good day.........

I'm gonna be hitting the reservoir on Friday for my first time through the ice.

How has the walk been lately? I'm gonna be on foot and plan on getting as close to the channel as I can going out from Dorchester unless keibel rd is plowed.

Also if anybody could PM me about the pickerel fishing there that'd be cool - I don't want to keep any but I've never caught one and have consistently struck out on a small pond supposedly full of them. I'd really love to hold one of those cool looking buggers. Never caught an Esox of any kind - I've spent too much time playing with worms! lol  ;D
All fish welcome - even suckers!

You would have better luck going to Long Pond for them around the weed line.

Fished the channel on Saturday 6:30 am - 5:00 pm.  One on (missed him) and 5 lookers (Vex)....ALL DAY! :(

I can't remember the last trip I was skunked, but just being out there is worth it for me :)

Boy, was I glad I brought my Smitty Sled.

FYI - I measured 16 inches of ice over the channel.

Might make one more trip next weekend (weather permitting ;))

was out Saturday afternoon on the lake.  Wow what a nice day, think I was actually hot, even got a sunburn too.  snow is fairly hard so the drag wasn't bad (only a couple mushy spots).  Punched 18 holes with only 1 crappie to show but hey I need the exercise.  I was wishing I had my 6" auger back (lost it couple weeks ago down a hole) which would have let me punch double or so but I managed with the 8" (building up my endurance for next year).  did manage to cover a lot of ground and do some exploring.  Seems that I can't break the barrier of just a couple fish each trip, always wind up getting 1 or 2 fish.  Didn't see too much in the way of activity.  Talked to some guys that said they lost 5#'s watching me move all around :) and drilling.  seemed like a slow day for most I talked to but I left right at dark so don't know if things picked up after...

I drove my car out it last Saturday. We've had some snow since then but you should be ok with a 4wd. They used to keep it plowed all winter but that was the town doing it and now they have a new town highway super and I guess he won't do it. Someone did it for the crappie derby ( county ? )
