This thread is for the Die Hard Ice Shanty members that have been here for the duration...Newbies are welcome, but must make the Pledge to the creed RGfixit made years ago!
We have lost a lot of members due to unfortunate circumstances and those who made judgemental mistakes...we are all on this site to share the love of the sport and to respect the greatest recreational sport in the world.
Mr Ice Shanty himself, has given us a true gift. Let's respect Scott and keep this site clean and fun!!!

You have two finger lakes nearby (cayuga and seneca) if they freeze, or you could make the trip to Whitney Point for some crappie.... Depends on how far you want to travel... Otisco is another good blue gill spot... along with another hidden lake in between you and Skaneateles that I'll leave unmentioned.... ::)

Waneta, Lamoka, Keuka, Cayuta. The southern ends of Seneca, and Cayuga will rarely get enough ice to fish, it does happen though. Most fish the northern ends of those 2 lakes. Not real familiar with the other's I have listed with the exception of Cayuta (Little Lake). Or the Dead Sea at times. Seriously there are alot of fish in this lake, but not alot of structure. It is definately a challenge to fish, and usually has some of the first and safest ice.

Floatsgone...the pond side of Eaton Brook was completely iced over on Thursday...about 1.5", but it broke up a bunch.
Madison County is about to lock up soon, at least the 'Gill and Callico areas ;)
I will definately NOT post conditions until Oneida freezes :whistle:

Just checked the neighbors pond, shes got about an inch. Im sure our more protected first ice lakes down here have a bit more.

Tank and I hit out favorite crappie lake this am and had a good time. They were not on fire but it was good. We got a few dozen each and kept enough for 2 meals...

Its doing good Freddy. Hes worked hard and doc says hes a week or more ahead of average. It gets real stiff and he has a hard time getting moving after sitting for a bit...
I got him a pair of Kahtoolas like you said - best thing ever! Almost no chance of falling with those on

Fred! I dont think I would be ice fishing yet if it was not for the micro spikes. I also use them around the yard for gathering firewood.

lol, give me bass all day long. can keep them where i fish in the finger lakes and they fight better than panfish and walleye and give me more meat, not that i dont like me some gills and perch(best tasting fish in my opinion)

Honestly, I havent had a chance to play with mine in a good weed situation...
But, what I have been told by others is that the new upgrades made it great... V 2.9 and 3.1 added a much wider range of sensitivity and also gave us more target adjust. Before these versions things got blobby and filled in. Now with the wider range of adjustment you can dial them in, in the weeds...

Just checking in...seems that when everyone gets safe ice, lips get sealed ???
I have had a great season, simply because I was able to fish and spend time with a lot of different Shanty members and also able to fish a few different bodies of water ;D
Oneida has been kind as well as Otsego a few times.
Please let us know what you have been up to :)
