New to the Alliance Nebraska area
« on: Nov 03, 2018, 01:20 AM »
Any decent places to fish/ice fish? Looking for people to fish with especially ice fishing. I am rigged up pretty well with portable shacks, Marcums, power augers etc. I'm retired young "53" so can fish often.

I  fish out in the area fairly often. There is some fishing around.

Hi. Best part about Alliance is it's located in the middle of a lot of great fishing lakes. Bad part is the nearest one is 30 miles away. However, there are 13 sandhill lakes within an hour to hour and a half drive as well as 3 reservoirs.

I like to fish Box Butte Reservoir, Smith Lake WMA, and Whitney Reservoir. All three you can just pull a sled from the boat dock area and start fishing. Usually a few people around. If you are more adventurous, try Crescent lake Refuge and WMA. Also, Frye Lake in Hyannis area is always a great time, plus they have free coffee at the Sinclair station in town!

If you are a truly skilled ice fisherman, lake Minatare opens up on January 15, but it usually has a poor reputation for ice fishing. Lake winters creek is next to it for even more options.

don't forget Bridgeport sandpits they can be fun as well, and not that far from Alliance.
