How long do you keep GULP
« on: Feb 24, 2021, 07:00 PM »
I have a couple containers of panfish sized gulp. How long do you keep your open containers? One of mine smelled pretty bad and got spilled anyways so I tossed it. Maybe it stunk from day 1 maybe not, can't remember. Thanks in advance

For. Ever.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

They smell like that from the factory. I keep them until I either use them all, or they dry out. I've got a couple jars that are several years old and they still work fine.

Never toss them. If you spill all the gulp out either get gulp refill or throw the baits in with other gulp baits. I’ve got some around 10yrs old.

Even if the gulp plastic dries and shrinks...time in gulp will rehydrate it

Too expensive to throw it away.

Is this is a testimony to how well they work?   ::)

They work pretty well. They're just expensive, so I typically buy a bunch when they are on sale, and then am set for long periods. I pretty much only use them ice fishing, so they spend a lot of time in storage, especially since we occasionally get winters with no ice here.

Our last local outdoor store is going out of business here, so I just loaded up on enough to pretty much last forever at 40% off regular price about a month ago. The shelf life is basically indefinite as long as they stay sealed and moist.

Thanks everyone im happy to know they basically last forever.

I don't get the opportunity to fish very often nso yes a container lasts me a very long time. I have pretty good luck using it and can catch multiple fish on one piece of gulp so it lasts a long time.

Good luck stay safe!

For. Ever.

You bet. Keep 'em sealed in a heavy ziploc bag. I've got some 10 years old. Worked this Fall on bass.  ;D

Same here. I keep the packages in Ziploc freezer bags just in case they leak, which the little zippie bag ones have a habit of doing.

I have gulp mullets that are 3yrs old and I still use them.

I only throw then away if they are ripped or dried out.

I dont buy it.stinks like wet catfood and it always leaks in the original container or bag.i havent noticed a difference in a bite on either plastics or live bait over gulp to get me to buy another gulp product.

I use em all year! If your Gulp alive is leaking you didn't peal the sticker off all the way or the cardboard is missing?
I won't go anywhere camping or just driving around without them.
Save's a trip to the bait store for sure.
I use the smelt kind, on a tungsten jig.

I would almost guarantee they build those jars to leak!!!
I started putting them all in new glass spice jars with real lids that you can tighten down and wont leak. No need for baggies.
Wish I had done it years ago so my stuff doesnt smell like the Gulp liquids.
