Next year looking at getting a pop up. Not against Eskimo, I really like the door they have on their outbreak. I’m a bigger guy. I’m hoping other companies take note and do something similar. Not against getting an Eskimo but it’d be nice to have choices with that door.

Cabelas had one

Door is very convenient. Even better if they will make it bigger.

I too am a big guy. I just sold my Fatfish and bought the Outbreak 450XD this year. The door design is awesome. I think that the Eskimo shanty quality is right up there with any of the others. You can't go wrong! I would recommend the Outbreak to anyone that is on the fence.

My buddy has an otter. I really like the quality of their poles. He’s very happy with it. I was hoping they would do something similar next year.

You can double check on Eskimo's website. If I recall correctly they are both very similarly sized with the Outbreak 450XD being slightly larger. If memory serves me correctly the 949i is 69 SF and the 450XD is 75 SF. They are both about the same weight.

Bought the outbreak this year. Super happy with it. Eskimo seems to have addressed past quality issues. Replaced an otter that was only 3 seasons old with some major quality control issues.

Third year on mine, love it. Great shanty only issue I have is when it’s cold, it’s a bear to break down and try to get back in the bag.

I would buy an Outbreak 650xd in a heartbeat (if I could find one) if they had a black interior. I currently use a 6120i for spearing and like the size, but wish it had a bigger door for hauling out the sturgeon and stepping in and out after a morning of busch lights. But the gray interior is a deal breaker for me. Hoping they come out with a black interior for this fall.

Hawks22 what difference in pole quality could you tell with the Otter house? All I've seen is that they're blue...

Would be a great unit if the windows were configured a little different. i like the windows on the Otter vortex, i also would really like the cabelas unit but the windows are not removable ??? the windows in my fatfish are useless unless you stand up, unvelcro it and peer out

I don’t like that in order to close the door you have to zip the zipper down. All it takes is a little water or condensation to freeze that zipper in and then it’s useless. For those of us that fish in the cold and stay overnight in our shacks not being able to fully bank the shack is a deal breaker for me. Basically this is a warm weather shack not intended for overnight use. I get it it’s a nice feature if your a big fat guy but for me the cons defiantly outweigh the pros. I hope that Eskimo can come up with a better design so as not to sacrifice warmth and functionality. I rely on my gear to perform and having a frozen zipper trapping me inside my shack when it’s -30 is not a risk I’m willing to take. I’ve owned eskimos for years and after seeing this door I bought an otter. Just my 2 cents and observations.
