Title: Milwaukee Pricing
Post by: boxerboxer on Jan 01, 2023, 08:04 PM
I’ve got a 7” Nero hand auger and am planning to buy a Milwaukee hammer drill to run it when ice is beyond 10-12” thick. I’m looking at the 2804-22 kit with charger and 2 5Ah batteries, which my local small town hardware store has for $279. It looks like I can also get the 2904-22 for about $20 more online. I’ve heard it has a feature designed to prevent the users wrist from getting jacked up when the drill hits resistance great enough that the bit stops moving but I’m wondering if that’s going to do enough for me to justify not buying local. I’m also open to suggestions of deals I may have missed.

For the $20 more I'd buy online.

Look on eBay. You can get some good deals on Milwaukee there. Facebook marketplace too. I picked up a brand new 2904 tool only for 100 bucks.

Can always go dewalt too, very reliable.  Think some just to hung up on the Milwaukee name following the crowd.  Not to say they’re bad but you might be able to save a few bucks.  I have Dealt, Milwaukee and Makita power tools, no problems with any of them.  Just shop around.

Couldn't get those codes to work. Do new ones show up there often?

I found 2903-22 at Acme for $259 shipped plus tax using code NEWDEAL, it should be here Monday next week. Ice should stay thin enough to hand auger til then.

Nice! That one worked, hopefully somebody can benefit from it. The Acme deal was $10 better so I'm glad the Northern Tool codes I tried weren't working :)

Finally got out with the 2903 yesterday running my Nero 7". It cut through 16" of ice like butter, and I had no issues with the auger getting hung up at the bottom of the hold, or with auto shutoff killing the drill when I didn't want it to. I need to secure the drill to the auger just in case, although with the ice this thick I don't think the handle on the Nero drill attachment would allow it to fall through anyway. In any case I wish I would have done this 2 years ago. Unrelated to the auger but I finally replaced a bad transducer and my vexilar is working great, and I caught my first walleye through the ice. Looking forward to the rest of the ice season.
