The South end and North end both have some ice but in between there's nothing.  Saw one eagle out in the middle on the edge of the ice at the north end and another circling overhead today.  Fish creek and south of the bridge both have ice but it looks very thin.

How’s it shaping up for New Years with the week of cold weather ahead of us?

I checked it Friday afternoon was only a inch. Should be ready next weekend. All depends on this snow coming if it floods and slushes up it will be weak snow ice but will be something.

Still some open water once you get north of snake hill.  South end is froze but before it snowed there was water seeping out of a number of big cracks near Brown's.  BTW, have people noticed the small sailboat off Brown's that didn't get taken out of the water?  Wonder what happened there.  Its there until Spring now.  A prime target for vandalization during the next couple of months, and also a hazard for nighttime sledders.

Yes I've heard about the beached Sail boat. Apparently the owner was notified but didn't have a way to retrieve it due to it being stuck deep in sand. I would imagine he has some fines coming his way pretty soon.

The association must have pulled out an extra splash board out of the dam at Grangerville. Most people aren't aware there is a dam controlling the height of Saratoga Lake. Now my 13' readings are down to 9'. This means a lot to me as I am a panfish pursuer. Good luck everyone.

Hopefully wind cut down snow depth/insulation so we get the freeze. ;D

It's alright... I think a little over fished year round. That said, I moved to Saratoga from Washington county this year so I'll surely be out I  the lake.

Away for Boxing day.  When I returned home this evening there were 4 guys out on the ice on the South end not far from Brown's.

The kids playing ice hockey just north of the parking lot on the shoe ice?  Those were the only 4 that I saw when I drive by...🤔

Hi Guys,

Just an update on the lake level and the webcams. The lake association does not control the lake level. It is controlled by ENEL, the power company operating the dam in Victory Mills. The lake level right now is not unusual. It is lowered to just below 201ft each winter to prevent flooding in the spring, where we can see the level rise a foot in a week. 203.5 is the normal level during the warm months.

I plan on adjusting one of the webcams tomorrow so that it's focused on the Brown's Beach activity. Didn't get to it today during the daylight.

I won't be hitting the ice until after this cold spell, but for now I'm fine watching you guys freeze from my nice warm sunroom.

For everyone parking at Brown's, remember to pick up after yourselves. I recall there being some comments from the town last year about garbage being left behind.

Lakesteve your absolutely right about people being hawgs last year... just don't understand the concept of throwing ur crap on the ground for someone else to worry about... I mean you took the effort to bring it In the first place. Let's now ruin a good parking place. Or we will end up paying or even kicked out...
Cacth them by day, fillet them by night.

Spudded around for 30 minutes at a few spots on the north end and found a consistent 4-5" of ice in most spots. There were a few areas where there was still 2-3" of unfrozen slush atop of the ice but I would imagine that freezing up soon with the weather the way it is. Continue to be careful and spud where ever you go though, I came upon some pressure ridges that had water bubble up as I approached. Heading out in a few hours for the first of the season and will report back

Looked like the lake was mostly locked with a few people venturing out on the southern end this afternoon.
