Thats a pretty decent size one. Some lakes might be different but innthe lake i fish they run much bigger than the yelows, its not uncommon to catch them over a foot but most are between 10 and 12 inches
Theres only 3 seasons..open water, hunting and icefishing!

Personally, I think they are better than yellows. Fillet, flour and fry in butter.....yummy. ;D

FIshing live shiners on a deep weed edge in 15-20 feet of water i landed a Whitey just under 18 inches... They fight extremely well pound for pound.

I refer to them as stripers (white bass, silver bass......whatever), depends on where you are from. Along time ago my dad and I use to throw them back, we are more yellow perch and walleye fisherman. Although, recently for the last two years my dad has told me to keep any that I catch. He has found that they taste as good as or if not better than yellow perch if you cut the red meat out. I personally hate cleaning them, they have a thicked rib cage, and some places I fish you can catch big ones by the buckets full. I told him I'll keep them if he cleans them :D. I don't mind cleaning a few just not a bucket full ;). They do put up a good fight, especially those 14,15 ,16,17 inchers, heck they all really do.

Where I'm from in Muskegon Michigan that's a white bass and when the topic said white perch I thought it was referring to white belly perch because we have both white belly perch and yellow belly perch here.
