I have fished Balsam a couple dozen times over the years. Mostly in summer but about a half dozen times hard water fishing. I am nowhere near an expert on the lake. What are you after?

I was raised on Balsam Lake. I moved when I was 16. We owned a resort on the Lake. I wondered how the fishing is.
I have lots of wonderful memories of ice fishing there!

If you had to pick a lake to spend the rest of your life on it would be Balsam. They have every species there in monster sizes. I have caught some amazing fish there. I don’t go there very often in the winter because I don’t know where all the secret ice spots are, although I know a few. The lake is so big and varied you could spend a lifetime finding all its secrets.  It is just easier for me to get out to other lakes where I know exactly where to go. We may have crossed paths in the past I used to rent boats from a resort on that lake in the summer up until about 1995. I think it was called boongoglers or Boondockers or something like that.

If I win the lottery someday, I will own a corner of Balsam.

a lake I've always wanted to fish, but probably will never because of its distance from me. :(
