Fished the south side of the sandbar yesterday, had a good solid 14" of ice. Kind of suprised that i didn't see at least one brave soul venture out with a truck. I think by next weekend ill drive out. Caught a few northerns, couple bass and some nice size perch.     -NN

There was a truck out there around 11:30 AM today.

Is the pike fishing really that great on the sandbar? I know that it's known for them, but would you say its better for quantity, not quality?

I fished it quite a bit last winter and got a few nice ones here and there, nothing to write home about but there was almost always action. I want to fish up in the passage/carry bay. Esox-isnt that your big pike place?

the pic in my icon was my biggest taken out of the pass last season. that was the beginning of the season (in 2007!) on a 14" white sucker.

Is it just me or does that ice look a little scary in the foreground?

It was wind blown and broke into large chunks and refroze that way...

I'll let you know how 'scary' it is later  ;)
