Chum Can
« on: Dec 21, 2007, 09:11 AM »
Well, it has finally happened.  The old chum can has seen better days.  While I could probably make one, I would like to find a similar replacement.  This old friend is shaped like a copper cowbell with a release door on the bottom.  Does this sound like anything that any of you "Ice Brothers" may have seen at any of the sports shops in the area?  Thanks guys..........

Most all the bait shops carry them.

Yup to Martel's...got mine there 25-30 years ago, William's brother Gerad and Albie Merrill used to make them and sell them there at the shop.  I paid $5.00 for mine...imagine that!!  I've seen some since in this area but can't put a handle on just which shop, maybe the old K & M over in Franklin.
My worst day fishing is better'n my bext day at work.

It seems to help bring them in when its slow.  Also I use it at the end of the day to put leftover bait down. From my experience, this keeps them coming back every week.  They must get used to feeding at the same spot or something.
